Tragic closure of the first half of summer on the beaches of the Costa Daurada where, to date, Civil Protection has recorded seven deaths, more than triple when compared to the same period last year, when from June 15 to July two people drowned.

The dead on the Costa Daurada
The beach season on the Costa Daurada began with a tragedy in Cambrils, where just two days after the official start of summer, a 74-year-old German woman drowned on La Llosa beach, waving the green flag that day.
Nine days later, on June 26, and also waving the green flag, an 80-year-old man of Spanish nationality drowned on the beach of Club Nàutic Creixell. The third death on the beaches of the demarcation occurred on July 1, when a 56-year-old woman also of Spanish nationality, died in this case on the Llevant beach in Salou. That day he had hoisted the yellow flag.
A week later, on July 8, a 32-year-old Indian was found drowned at Miracle Beach, where there was also a yellow flag. After this death, particularly tragic days awaited us, as death notices arrived on the beaches for three consecutive days.
The first of these occurred on Friday, July 11, when an 80-year-old woman died on Salou's Llarga beach waving the green flag. The following day, an 87-year-old man of Spanish nationality died on the beach of La Paella in Torredembarra, on a day when there was a yellow flag. Finally, on Thursday, July 13, Altafulla Beach witnessed the last drowning death on our beaches so far this summer. This is a 77-year-old Spanish woman who was transferred in critical condition to the Santa Tecla Hospital in Tarragona, where she died the same day.

On the other hand, if we don't feel well or if we feel tired, we should avoid bathing and, if symptoms appear in the water, get out immediately. If we have not finished digesting, we should not bathe either. Also, if we don't know the depth of the sea or if there are rocks, we don't have to jump head first. And, lastly and among other tips, children must be constantly supervised.
